This month-long cleansing process is a very powerful way to help restore normal function to your liver. The citrus punch is loaded with fresh Vitamin C, rutin and other key cleansers. The strong astringent action it has on your liver helps it to squeeze out toxins. It is best to juice your own citrus, as fresh is most powerful. You can purchase a citrus juicer, for very little at any good home store. Do not use the kind of juicer that requires peeling the citrus (such as a Champion Juicer). It will take forever and you will burn out before you have finished the four weeks!
If you need to travel during the liver flush, it is quite ease. Simply juice up your citrus, pack it in glass jars, and carry it with you in a cooler. Also, citrus juicers are small, so you can take your juicer with you on longer trips and buy fruit during your travels.
Citrus punch will keep in the refrigerator for 3-5 days.
During these four weeks it is important that you follow a healthy diet and avoid: fried foods, refined sweeteners, refined flour products, dairy, preservatives, dyes, alcohol, recreational drugs, caffeine, and white rice.
Make a punch from the following organic citrus.
- 6 lemons
- 12 oranges
- 6 grapefruits
These proportions are approximate. You may make your punch in proportions that taste good to you, as long as your punch includes all three fruits. Depending on the season, this amount of fruit will make about ½ gallon/2 litres of juice. You may add water to make one gallon/4 litres total, but drinking your punch undiluted is best. You can halve the recipe (3 lemons, 6 oranges, 3 grapefruits, adding enough water to make ½ gallon/2 litres). In fact, many prefer to do it this way, as your juice is fresher. Or you can make a little bit at a time: 1 cup orange juice, ½ cup grapefruit juice, and ¼ cup lemon juice, adding water to make one quart/1 litre.
Drink at least 3 glasses(8 ounces/250 ml) a day; more if you like.
While you are on the liver flush, you enhance the process by taking: 2 caps of garlic with breakfast and dinner
Drink this punch for 6 days.
Follow with one day of fasting, then back to 6 more days of citrus punch, and so on for a month.
- 1 quart/1 litre of carrot juice (about 3 pounds of carrots)
- 1 pint/500ml of celery juice (one large bunch should do it)
- ½ pint/250 ml of beet juice (about 7-10 medium sized beets)
- 1 pint/500 ml of any other fruit or vegetable juice (pick something that will make this taste good to you)
The juice must be made from fresh, organic vegetables. DO NOT use canned or frozen vegetables, or vegetable juices.
Mix together a minimum of 2 quarts, more if you like, and drink slowly throughout the day. You may find your energy is somewhat limited on this day due to the low caloric intake and detoxification. Plan an easy, restful day. Perhaps a Sunday if you work a normal week. You may also drink as much as you like of other fresh juices, herb teas, and water on this day.
Vegetable juicers can be purchased online and at most home stores. They vary a lot in price, so research a bit before you buy. The main considerations are how regularly, and what quantity of produce you intend to juice. The more expensive juicers give much better quality juice, but if you are only going to juice once a year for cleansing then a cheap centrifugal juicer will do. You always want a juicer that feeds the pulp through in a way that doesn’t require taking the machine apart to dump it. If you do not have access to a juicer, then talk to your local juice bar. They will usually juice to order for you. This is the most expensive way to get your juice.
